Watercolor: FlatLay #2 Icecream

Here’s the thing, you know that every kid’s dream to have their own ice cream machine in the kitchen? Did ya have tat? (If you didn’t, what planet are ya from?) Okay, if it’s just me then yes, that’s one of my many wish-upon-a-star/dear-santa moments. And I don’t like it in the kitchen, I want it in my room. Ready, 24 by 7. Like any flavor, and toppings galore.

As a kid, I didn’t pursue that dream (or my parents’ money stretching abilities couldn’t afford one)…. but it’s fine, as an adult now … I can buy …. the ice cream.  As for the machine, I think I have to do some penny-pinching. Good-luck 🙂

Watercolor: FlatLay#1 Latte+ Waffles

Taddaaahh!! The endless pursuit for food. Well, I’m foodie myself next to being an art student (and a klutz). But really, I think I should ‘definitely’ look for other interesting subjects such as a… (what do we have here….) a coffee cup—- with coffee and super rich froth, or a bowl —with pasta and meatballs, or a bag— full of chocolates. HHMmmm let’s see.

First artwork for my “Flat Lay drawing Project/ Series/ Challenge.” I edited it with tweetables so it kind of look instagram-y. Does it? 🙂

Watercolor + Ink: Flat Lays Week

But first, I should tidy up my table. Second, I wish to move on with food (there’s a camera!). Third, I think I can’t (clean ma’desk) because as I write, I’m thinking of ‘waffles’ and latte. ohhh yez!

To keep me going and practicing, I challenge myself to do flat lay drawings. We all know flat lay photography. I do lots of flat lays for product shoots (and Instagram posts) and I adore it. Your product photos help you sell (and IG posts make you pro!)  (And I’m like so legit and had all figured-out when all I did was stand on top of things just to get a good shot.) But this time, A’ma take some interesting flat lay photos on the web and render them using watercolor and ink.

Lastly, I should figure out: perfect flat lays vs. hot mess! 😛

Watercolor Boos + ArtGoals

I’m practicing ‘cupcakes’. I know it’s one of the start-up kit of beginners’ drawings (saw a lot of cupcake tutorials for newbies and dummies)  But is it? When you aim at realism, it’s hard for dummy like me.

Ahhhhhhh, I think I should go back with the watercolor tutorials. My ADD triggers at the sight of the sponge part of my cupcakes. Darn, I’m a working progress!

Art Goals

My nephew, under my watch. This is my joy every time. I love moments as this when you created something with a beloved. I’m pretty sure he got this inclination from me. He’s the only person who I allowed to touch the artist tool box and we do art together. I plan to collaborate with this little artist for more artworks. Yay! 🙂

Watercolor: Blueberry Cheesecake

I am practicing details. Like the sponge and icing details of this cake. I want to achieve ‘realism’ or at least people’s second look if it’s real or not. Gameface on, I will have to practice more with microscopic eyes and thanks to my old eyeliner wand I have a weapon for those deepseated details (So overwritten. I mean I have a tiny brush.). For now, I love and hate this cheesecake. 😛

Watercolor: Working the Details

It has been my frustration as an art student to work on details with the subjects I’m working. Most especially those with rich textures, folds and depth. I’m the plain jane in our class (not in appearance) but with my works that were entirely 1-dimensional. Not until today, my tastes change, skill promoted and my perception of beauty when it comes to drawing evolved. And definitely my past drawings suck, I mean, they lack artistic promise (no wonder my teacher’s cold on me lol). However, I still keep (& love) them and I’m happy with the thought that I achieved a little bit of progress. 🙂
